MUSKOKA GLEE CLUB

Muskoka Glee Club is a welcoming, low-pressure space for adults who love musical theatre, whether you’re brand new or a seasoned stage veteran. Come sing iconic group numbers from across generations in a professional-style rehearsal setting. Each 90-minute class includes a physical and vocal warm-up, harmonies, and the occasional light choreography.

Muskoka Glee Club meets Thursdays from 7-8:30pm starting September 17 through November 19 at The Rene Caisse Theatre. Ages 18+.

THINKING BEYOND THE MARKET
Hosted by YWCA Muskoka in partnership with Theatre Muskoka, with support from Muskoka Housing Taskforce 2.0.

Thinking Beyond the Market is a film about genuinely affordable housing by writer/director Dr. Brian Doucet.

Join Dr. Doucet as he goes coast to coast to learn about policies, programs and projects that are helping to ensure that housing is a human right. From using public land to build non-market housing in Kitchener and Whistler, and inspiring Indigenous-led projects in Vancouver, to strong tenant protections and rent control in British Columbia and Prince Edward Island, the examples featured in this film demonstrate how many important solutions are making a difference in communities big and small! The film features interviews with more than 30 planners, policymakers, politicians, developers, residents, and housing advocates from across Canada. It both inspires and challenges
us to think about the root causes of the housing crisis and the transformative solutions that are hiding in plain sight.

​Following her husband John’s tragic death from leukemia, Annie and her closest friend Chris decide to fundraise for a comfortable new settee (sofa) in their local hospital’s waiting area. Shattering every traditional stereotype surrounding the Women’s Institute, they successfully convince a handful of ordinary members in a quiet Yorkshire village to pull off an extraordinary stunt: posing for an artistic, nude calendar to support the cause.

We Walk the Line: A Tribute to Johnny Cash

This hit after hit show is a true Johnny Cash Experience that celebrates the music and life of “The Man in Black” and his fun-loving wife, June Carter. The concert covers the entire career of Johnny Cash from the 1950's at Sun Records to 2003 with the American Recordings label and includes Johnny's biggest hits Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue, I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Hurt, and the famous duet with June Carter, Jackson, amongst other classic songs. The concert performance features Ward Cornforth as a 1960s-era Johnny Cash and duets performed with Johnny’s lifelong partner, June Carter.
